Welcome to the 2026 Itasca County SWCD Native Plant Sale!

 

Hi Folks! Welcome to the Itasca SWCD Tree and Plant Sale. It will run from January 15 to April 17, 2026.

We have a number of new items coming in this year for flower kits, individual flowers, shrubs, trees, and tree/shrub packs! Because of your feedback, most trees are now sold as 5 plants/bundle. Over 50 individual species and plants kits are available. 

You can order using our online store (see categories below!) or download an order form to send in. Descriptions are found for each item online or download the description form. Or stop by our office to pick up hardcopies!

Payment for online orders are processed through PayPal. After you select the Checkout Tab and enter your billing information, select PayPal for the payment method and confirm your order. You will be redirected to the PayPal site to pay for your order.

SWCD staff run the sale and are available to answer any natural resource related questions regardless of whether you make a purchase or not.

Big Bluestem

 

Andropogon gerardii

 

 

 

Dry to moist soils with full sun to part shade 

   

Warm season, perennial bunchgrass with blue-green stems 4-8 ft. tall. Turns red-maroon in the fall.  Moderately tolerant of acidity and can withstand periodic flooding and high-water tables. Also known as Turkey Foot.

Dry to moist soils with full sun to part shade 

   

Typically grows 3-5' tall (less frequently to 6') and is noted for its upright form and blue-green foliage. A warm season grass.

Little Bluestem

 

Schizachyrium scoparium

 

 

   

Dry to moist soils with full sun to part shade 

   

Forms dense mounds 18-24 inches tall. Slender blue-green stems often reach 3-5 feet, or more, by September, and become mahogany-red with white, shining seed tufts in the fall.  Deep roots and drought resistant.
