Welcome to the 2026 Itasca County SWCD Native Plant Sale!

Dear Itasca SWCD Community! 

The online sales have ended for the 2026 Itasca SWCD Native Tree and Plant Sale. 

Thank you for your support of conservation, keeping our woodlands and waters healthy and providing habitat for pollinators and other wildlife.

We do have some remaining stock available:

For trees, we have a few bundles (5 trees/ bundle; $12.50 per bundle) remaining of: northern red oak (3 bundles), swamp white oak (3 bundles), river birch (7 bundles), and white pine (6 bundles), and 1 wetland soils pack (25 trees, $60).

There 8 units ($45 each) of Pollinator Paradise seed mix. Each unit covers 500 sq ft.

5 boxes (1 lb concentrate) of Plantskydd deer repellant. $30 per box  

If you would like to purchase the remaining stock, please stop by the SWCD office. First come basis. Checks only accepted. 

Flowers, grasses, and flower kits are no longer available for purchase.

    Moist to wet soil with full to part sun     A classic MN native to our area. Shiny, yellow-bronze bark. Good wildlife value for birds. Twigs have been used as a tea.

    Well-drained, moist soil with full  to partial sun     Moderately fast grower. Shade tolerant when young, shade intolerant when mature. Tart berries for eating.

Eastern Hemlock

Tsuga canadensis

 

 

   

Moist, well-drained soils in cool settings. Part-Full sun.

 

    Conifer that grows to about 100 ft. Flat soft needles. Deer candy that must be protected. While known in the eastern US, it is a rare species in MN. Most were cut or burned in early 1900’s.

    A more southern MN white oak species but new studies show it will grow in southern parts of Itasca County. Likes moist soils near wetlands. Acorns for wildlife. A floodplain species.
