1. AIS Community Action Projects (CAP) Matching Grant

Description -  Individual of group matching grants to help fund projects to fight the spread of AIS.

2. AIS Sentry Program Participation

Description -  Become a trained AIS Sentry. Each volunteer Sentry monitors a specific area of a lake or high-risk habitat. Sentries become familiar with what is “normal” for their assigned areas and report when anything new appears. Training and one-on-one coaching provided.

3. AIS Info Table for Special Events

Description -  The Itasca AIS Program will provide a 10x10 canopy, table, AIS literature and free promotional items. AIS Detectors may staff the table. Examples: Bait shops, educational program for kids at a resort, July 4th in a grocery store parking lot, meeting for fishing tournament participants at a marina. Equipment and staff availability may be limited.

4. AIS Detector Scholarship

Description -  This program provides participants with high-quality training, developed and reviewed by AIS experts. Participants will learn principles of basic aquatic ecology, AIS identification, impacts, and biology, Minnesota rules and regulations, preventing the spread of AIS, and reporting. $190 registration fee is paid for by the Itasca AIS Program.

5. AIS Identification Class

Description -  A one day class presented by trained and certified Itasca AIS Program staff on the identification of AIS. Hands on training using actual AIS samples and print documentation will teach you how to identify Itasca County’s Least Wanted, how to find them and what to do when you do find them.

6. AIS Shoreline Survey Event

Description -  We’ll come out to your location and show you how to do an AIS shoreline survey. We will give your group hands on training on how and where to look for AIS as well as what to do when you find them.

7. Resort Partnerships

Description -  Work with the Itasca AIS Program and the resort(s) on your lake to help the resorts fight the spread of AIS. Possible programs include providing support for AIS Boat Inspections on Saturday turn-over, providing AIS information tables for special events, presenting campfire programs about AIS and more.
